Community Baptist Church of Gordon Heights under the leadership of Pastor, Reverend Thomas James Flud Sr is moving forward. A lot has been going on for these past months, for instance, the men's ministry has been established and the women's ministry kickoff stated the first Saturday in August. The Friends and Family Day celebration on July 10th was a success, the delicious fried fishes and fried/backed chickens competes with each other, there were many assorted foods and beverages and the church was packed with people. The Sister to Sister forum on July 9th was blessed with women of God who came to fellowship with each other. The topic for the forum was Am I My Sister's Keeper?.
Sister Ursula Johnson the director for Sister to Sister program did a marvelous job coordinating this event just for us sisters. Despite the heavy rain, the Deacon Newsom Men's Day BBQ took place as planned on August 20th. We are grateful for Deacon and sister Carolyn Allen for the delicious foods and their hard work to make this event posible. We also celebrated our Usher's Anniversary on August 14th and what a marvelous time we had, our Usher's showed off and showed out with a grand march second to none, they looked so sharp and what a sight to behold. On this note, i would like to congratulate our Usher's president Sister Phyllis Bostic for a job well done.
The members of Community Baptist Church of Gordon Heights are very proud of Deaconess in training Mary Johnson for working tiredlessly to put together a briliant packages for the Vacation Summer School Program. She also coordinated every step of the Epic Mega Spot Events. We are looking forward to next year program.
Please keep our children in prayer as they headed back to school at the end of Summer. Let us encourage them to reach their goals and break all barriers because the sky is the limit, but most of all let us remind them to always put God first and everything else will fall in place.
